Important Announcement

RTD will begin training Free MallRide operators on Monday, Sept. 16, on the completed portion of the 16th Street Mall between Wazee and Curtis streets. The training will familiarize bus operators with the new center-running transitway ahead of the bus service returning to a portion of the 16th Street Mall in mid-October.

  • Operator training (not in service) will take place 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. through the end of September, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for approximately two weeks in October (no training 10/8 per Denver event)
  • Signs will be posted on the Free MallRide shuttles indicating that the vehicles are training operators and not in service
  • Approximately four shuttles will be operating in both directions each day between Wazee and Curtis streets. Pedestrians are encouraged to be cautious and look both ways while crossing the transitway

RTD Free MallRide will continue to provide service to customers on 15th and 17th streets between, Union Station and Civic Center Station, while operator training is underway.

In mid-October, the Free MallRide will begin operating on the 16th Street Mall from Denver Union Station to Curtis Street, and on 15th and 17th streets between Curtis Street and Civic Center Station. MallRide service is anticipated to remain in this configuration from mid-October until the 16th Street Mall project is completed.

MallRide Service Update – Effective Sunday, September 29

Starting Sunday, September 29, RTD will suspend its Free MetroRide service as part of the Final September 2024 Service Changes.

However, the Free MallRide will continue to operate between Union Station and Civic Center Station, with a detour along 15th and 17th streets between Wazee and Civic Center Station.

Free MallRide and MetroRide Operations - Effective through September 28

Due to ongoing construction as part of Denver’s 16th Street Mall Project, the Free MallRide is temporarily rerouted to 15th and 17th streets instead of its usual stops along 16th Street. Additionally, as part of RTD’s Downtown Rail Reconstruction Project, MallRide service will occasionally detour, operating between Union Station and Champa Street.

Meanwhile, the Free MetroRide has resumed service and is temporarily running between Union Station and Civic Center along 18th and 19th streets through September 28, 2024.

Please refer to the combined MallRide and MetroRide map below, and sign up for RTD Service Alerts to stay informed about the latest updates.
